Did you happen to catch the Viktor & Rolf Spring 2009 show? Everyone was invited! The duo showcased their Spring 2009 Collection in the virtual world. That meant no lines, no waiting, no hassles, no fuss.
There are some great reasons to do a show online. Hiring only one model, no PR company, no technicians, a great way to save money especially in the midst of our economic crisis. Everyone watching got a front row seat and had the ability to look at each look up-close. But putting the collection aside, I have to say, I was somewhat disappointed. I expected more craziness, some play with technology…special effects and perhaps even things flying at me. The show featured one model, Shalom Harlow, and while it was cool to see multiple Shalom’s walk down the runway at once, that was really it. The show ended with Viktor and Rolf appearing as puppeteers on top of the runway and all the Shalom’s clapping before vanishing into thin air which to be honest, I found quite spooky. At the end of the day, there is something great about being in a live runway show; whether it’s the craziness of it all, the adrenaline rush you get just being there or holding your breathe hoping that the collection is just phenomenal…it’s not the same watching it online.
Going back to the collection, the looks were very futuristic, switching back and forth between dark (mainly black) and bright colours (mainly red/orange/yellow). I was not too crazy about it, especially after the dramatic F/W 2008 show. Here is the final look.

The only thing I was a huge fan of was the shoes! Gorgeous!
